General Madine appeared in 1983 as part of Kenner's Return of the Jedi toy line. In the film, Madine leads the briefing for the attack on the second Death Star. The figure wears a light blue uniform with a dark belt and gray-green boots, and came with a unique, dark blue command staff.

Although the figure is relatively simple in terms of sculpt, it was appreciated for its role in the film and the recognizable uniform style of the Rebel Alliance.

Known variations include:

Hair color: Variations from light gray to dark gray or even light brown hair.

Face painting: Minor differences in eye color, eyebrows, and mouth finish depending on the production location.

Weapon Variant: The baton is usually white.
