The Emperor, or Emperor Palpatine, was released in 1984 by Kenner as part of the Return of the Jedi line. The figure depicts the evil Sith master as he appears in the final film of the original trilogy, dressed in a long, dark gray hooded cloak. His face is recognizably pale with deep wrinkles, and he came with a black walking stick.

The sculpt is simple but effective, with a stately stance that reflects his role as leader of the Galactic Empire.

Known variations include:

Cloak color: The color of the robe varies from dark gray to almost black, depending on production location.

Face Color: Variations in skin color of the head – from pure white to light gray.

Walking Stick: Usually black, but there are dark gray variants.

Lili Ledy variant (Mexico): This often has a lighter skin color and softer plastic for the cloak.

Extra fact: The Emperor was also available via a mail-away promotion in 1984, where fans could receive him for free after submitting Kenner promotion points. Those early versions came in a plastic bag without a card.

The Emperor figure is an essential link in any vintage Star Wars collection, especially as a counterpart to Luke Skywalker in his Jedi outfit.
