The very first version of Princess Leia Organa was released in 1978 by Kenner as part of the original “12-back” figures from Star Wars: A New Hope. This figure shows Leia in her iconic white senatorial robes, as she appears aboard the Tantive IV. She was the first female figure in the Star Wars toy line and played a central role in the original trilogy.

The figure came with a removable white vinyl cape and a black blaster pistol, which was specially designed for her. The sculpt shows her signature “cinnamon bun” hairstyle, one of the most recognizable hairstyles in film history.

Notable variants include:

Hair color: Variations from dark brown to black, depending on production location.

Face paint: Variations in eye color, eyebrows, and lip color; some versions have brighter makeup.

Cape: Variations in thickness, shine, and flexibility of the vinyl; sometimes with different cutouts on the arms.

Weapon: Comes in various shades of black

COO variants: Hong Kong, Taiwan, and later Lili Ledy (Mexico), each with subtle differences in sculpt and finish.

Lili Ledy variant: Rarer, with softer facial features and a different cape.

Princess Leia (white gown) is one of the most iconic figures from the original Kenner line. A complete example in good condition, with original cape and blaster, is highly sought after by collectors — and an essential part of any vintage collection.
