The Gamorrean Guard, one of the clumsy, green-skinned guards in Jabba the Hutt's palace, was released in 1983 by Kenner as part of the Return of the Jedi line. The figure stands out with its sturdy build, detailed sculpt and an impressive, detachable axe as an accessory. He wears brown-red armor with furry shoulder coverings and a muscular, monstrous look.
Thanks to its sturdy shape and unique sculpt, the Gamorrean Guard immediately became a favorite among collectors and children.
Notable variants include:
Plastic and paint differences: Figures from different production countries (such as Hong Kong, Taiwan, or Mexico) show variations in skin tone (from light green to dark green), armor detail, and fur texture finish.
Weapon variant: The included axe is usually gray, but can vary in thickness and length depending on the mold.
Lili Ledy variant (Mexico): This version has a softer sculpt, brighter colors, and a darker axe.
The Gamorrean Guard remains one of the most striking figures from the Jabba’s Palace series, and its brutal appearance makes it a must-have villain in any vintage collection.
Fun fact, the Gamorrean Guard mold was also used for the Brother Tuck figure from the 1991 Robin Hood series.
