Vintage Star Wars - Klaatu

Klaatu, one of Jabba the Hutt’s masked henchmen, appeared as an action figure in Kenner’s Return of the Jedi line in 1983. He is seen aboard Jabba’s sailboat and in palace scenes, recognizable by his green skin, pig-like face, and desert-style clothing.

This first version of Klaatu is often referred to as “Klaatu (Palace Outfit).” The figure wears a gray-green tunic with sand-colored pants and metal shoulder armor, and came with a force pike-like weapon.

Notable variants include:

Clothing Color: Variations in the shade of the skirt portion (from light to dark gray) and the armor.

Paint Details: Eye and skin color may vary slightly depending on production location.

Weapon: Minor differences in the shape and color of the staff (dark gray to black).

COO Variants: Figures from Hong Kong and Taiwan with subtle sculpt differences.

Lili Ledy (Mexico): Usually has a softer color scheme, with slightly lighter pants and weapon color.

In addition to this version, Klaatu in Skiff Guard Outfit was also released later, which is often confused with the original. Both versions clearly differ in outfit and helmet.

Klaatu is a typical “background alien” who, due to his unique appearance and role in Jabba’s entourage, is a favorite among collectors of the more exotic Return of the Jedi figures.
